A night with the Osmond Brothers!

What a great night! For those of you who know me, the Osmonds were an incredible example to me. It was the type of family I always wished I had! So, when the weather men predicted a bad snow storm on the night of the Osmonds concert at Mohegun Sun, I knew nothing could be bad enough to keep me from going. Les tried to talk sense into me but my mind was made up. He had two choices, come with me or not. He came.. thank goodness, I needed someone to take pictures. Because of the weather, we got to sit right up close. First they asked if anyone was celebrating an anniversery. Luckily, we were. 19 years! So they talked to us for a few seconds from the stage. Then Merrill came out into the audience to have people sing bits and pieces of a Christmas song. Yes, he came to me. I snuck in a hug and sang. For the life of me I can't remember what. I just remember it being on key(thank goodness!!). The show was so great. But the best part was afterwards, they do a meet and greet. We got to pose for pictures and talk with each one for a few minutes. I got to explain the impact they had on me and that they were my original missionaries for our church ( The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints / Mormons). They reacted so positively and warmly that I almost cried. Wayne was the best though. He asked us lots of questions about our membership in the church and if we had been sealed in the temple. I felt like I was talking to my Bishop! He just seemed so thrilled. They were all great! It was so worth the 2 hour ride in a blinding snow storm!!

This ones for Jacob!!

Last night was Jacob's 4th grade play. For most it probably would seem like no big deal but for a young boy who gets soooo stage freight, this was a huge accomplishment!! He knew he just had to be up on the stage with the other fourth graders. Our family was so proud of him. He smiled and sang like a real trooper! Nice job Jake! (That's him in the white shirt on this end of the 2cd row).

Salem Massachusetts day trip

Travis and I have been studying Salem Mass. and the witch trials so we thought it would make a great "field trip" for the whole family. We left bright and early Saturday morning. Our first stop was a pirate museum where we learned about the history of pirates in Massachusetts. The museum was very dark and cold. I didn't learn a whole lot because I kept waiting for something or someone to jump out at us. Just as I relaxed one of the displays came to life ! Next stop, The Witch History Museum. It was amazing to me that the whole of the witch hysteria began with one woman. She was a slave living with a family. She told the young girls in the family stories of voodoo and things that supposedly happened in Barbados (where she was from). The girls then began to act "weird". A doctor could find no reason for the behavior of the children so it must be from the Devil. And so the hysteria began. The last museum was the Witch Dungeon Museum. Here we saw a court case reenacted from actual transcripts from 1692. We were then taken down stairs to a recreated dungeon. They say that it was so dark in there that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. You lived among the rats. The youngest imprisoned was a four year old girl. If this wasn't bad enough, if you were imprisoned you had to pay to be there and pay for your food. If you were to be hung, you paid the executioner. A trip worth taking... if you can get past the car ride... "he's touching me, she's looking at me, make her stop singing"!!!
